ESOS Action Plans: Did You Make the Deadline?

If your organisation falls under the Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS) Phase 3, you were required to submit an action plan outlining the energy efficiency measures you intend to implement along with a timeline for doing so.

The extended deadline for this was 5th March 2025. Now that the dust has settled, the big question is: Did you make it?

The Deadline Rush

As you can imagine, my team and I were incredibly busy right up until the final hours, ensuring our clients got their action plans in on time. Many of them had been proactive, working with us well in advance to craft solid plans. But, as always, there were a few who left it to the very last moment, reaching out with less than a week to go, requesting support.

While I’d never recommend cutting it that close, I’m proud to say that my team pulled off a few miracles, getting even some of the late submissions over the line in time.

The Consequences of Missing the Deadline

Unfortunately, not every participant organisation made it. Some missed the deadline entirely, and as of now, still haven’t submitted their action plans. If your company is one of them, expect to hear from the Environment Agency (EA) soon. Fines and penalties could be on the horizon, and non compliance is not something you want hanging over your head.

What If You Submitted On Time?

If you got your action plan in before the deadline, well done! Now comes the real work: implementing those measures and turning planned savings into real energy and cost savings. Don’t let your plan sit on a shelf. Use it as a roadmap to drive meaningful change in your organisation.

Need Help with Non-Compliance?

If you’ve been contacted by the EA or are concerned about non compliance. What you do next is very important. If you need advice on what to do next, feel free to reach out.

One More Thing…

From what I’ve seen, many organisations have underestimated their potential energy savings in their action plans. This is not ideal when you’ve made a public declaration of what you’re going to do over the action plan period. I’ll be sharing more insights on this later this week so keep an eye out for that post.

In the meantime, if you have any questions about your ESOS action plan, get in touch!
